The OSAT Yodel was the club newsletter. It began as the primary communication medium within the club. It was published irregularly but nearly monthly for the first 10 years of OSAT's existence. With the advent of the OSAT.org website including a dynamic calendar of events and means to process memberships, the Yodel became less important as a news source for members. In its later years the Yodel became more like a journal for the club, less timely and more a collection of trip reports, inspirational articles, poetry, photographs (in color!) and reports on important club business. As the internet became more integral to communication, the Yodel transformed into a document primarily distributed via the web, although a few die-hards kept getting hard-copy versions. The emergence of social media added to the difficulty to obtain sufficient material to justify continued publication and distribution of the Yodel. Members tended to shorten their stories and emphasize the sharing of pictures through Facebook, for which there is both a primary OSAT.org page for general sharing and an OSAT Marketplace page to post about gear sales, trade equipment, etc. If any member wishes to revive the Yodel they are welcome to do so. In the meantime, club members are invited to leave articles and Trip Reports here, and club business news can be tracked on the Club Meetings page of this website. Members may subscribe to any of the pages linked above to keep up-to-date on those topics.
